I have been retired from Pitney Bowes for seven months. I empathize with your situation. I have sent a personal note to the senior executive responsible for the particular operation with which you have been dealing. I cannot tell you how Pitney Bowes will resolve this, but the company has always attempted to do the right things for customers. I admire your tenacity in continuing to stay in business and employ people and deliver value to your customers. i wish you all the best.

I read your post with interested. I own a small manufacturing business in Silicon Valley. A small precision machine shop. I took over the operations of the business in August 2008, after my late husband's partner, decided he had had enough. My husband died of a untreatable form of cancer in February 2004. Right now, do to the screeching halt of both Production & R&D precision machine work. I have layed off & reduced my labor force to 2 employees, who now work a 3-4 day work week, based on shop load. Cut the dental insurance, and have the remaining employees paying for half of their medical. I also had to take on the cost of moving this business in March, because the property we were located at was sold...I personally funded this move which cost close to 30K...I have worked to reduce the overhead and continue to watch for unecessary spending...On top of all of this...a past clerical person, with my ex-partner's approval, signed this struggling little business up for a Pitney-Bowes postal meter! It is up in 2011...We have never had the types of mailings that would warrent a postal meter...and I simply do not have the funds to cover this equipment, nor do I use it. I have attempted to explain my situation to the people who keep attempting to collect the my past due payments...I went to the Pitney Bowes website and saw the profit Pitney Bowes made in 2008...I'm a hardship case...certainly this company can look into my case, and write this off...As a past president of this company, I'm reaching out to you. Please help me.

I read the Napoleon Hill book years ago, and do not have specific recall of his 17 principles. However, I recall that there is remarkable consistency between Covey and Hill, and, for that matter, many other authors on the keys to success. I also believe that an optimistic world view and a strong social support system are essential determinants of health as well. Thank you for your comment.

Mike, I am a classmate and friend of Keith Ferrazzi. I followed his link to your page. Since reading Covey, years ago, the story of Victor Frankl has had a great impact on my career and life. I find it refreshing that primary works, like 7 Habits, are still being referred to in current context. Another that had a great impact was 17 Principles of Success by Napolean Hill. I have found that most all of the current conversations in business today can be directly linked to these 17 Principles. I would like to hear your take on it if you are familiar with the work. Thank you for your consideration. jgarciax1 at gmail dot com brgds, Joe Garcia
